Throwback Thursday: No It’s Becky

facebooktwitterreddit

Remember the time Taylor Swift wore a ‘No it’s Becky’ shirt? We do too. It’s one of the greatest memories we have in Swift history. We’re almost positive you agree with us. That is why for this Throwback Thursday we’re reminiscing on the wonderful Aunt Becky.

The joke won the year in 2014, and let’s be honest, it probably has won the decade at this point. If you aren’t a part of Tumblr, maybe you aren’t sure what the joke entails. We’ll fill you in

It all started when a post on Tumblr involving Swift went viral. The original message on Tumblr showed a photo of young Swift wearing a tiara.

After it went viral, the singer discovered it and decided to take things to the next level. How? By wearing a shirt that read “No it’s Becky” on the streets of New York.

To this day, fans still joke and call Swift their Aunt Becky. After all, she kind of gave them permission to do just that.

So needless to say, you are free to call Swift your Aunt Becky if you choose to do so. We know she’s not against it, and honestly, in a lot of ways, she is like our Aunt. We’ve loved her for all these years, so why not? We love our Aunt Becky more than words can say.

We’re even considering buying ourselves a “No it’s Becky” t-shirt. You should too. We know we’ll be wearing it proudly at our next Swift concert.
